Description This is an 14 pin IC socket that is used as a base for 14 pin ICs with DIP package. It has wide enough holes to allow easy insertion of ICs. With this component, designers can mount the IC directly to the PCB or the perf board without having to solder the IC directly to the PCB. Because the IC is not soldered directly to the PCB, it can be easily replaced or reused in other circuits as per requirement. Commonly, the 14 pin IC base is used in prototypes / PCB circuit design testing. They can be joined end to end when working with ICs with more than 8 pins. The contacts of the IC base are tin-plated to reduce oxidation.
