USB TO UART TTL 5V 3.3V FT232RL Download Cable To Serial Adapter Module For Arduino Standard Quality

$64.28 $98.35
The USB TO UART TTL 5V 3.3V FT232RL Download Cable To Serial Adapter Module is a basic breakout board for the FTDI FT232RL USB to serial IC, Revision 2. The pinout of this board matches the FTDI cable to work with official Arduino and cloned 5V Arduino boards. It can also be used for general serial applications. The major difference with this board is that it brings out the DTR pin as opposed to the RTS pin of the FTDI cable. The DTR pin allows an Arduino target to auto-reset when a new Sketch is downloaded. This is a nice feature to have and allows a sketch to be downloaded without having to hit the reset button. This board will auto reset any Arduino board that has the reset pin brought out to a 6-pin connector. The pins labeled BLK and GRN correspond to the colored wires on the FTDI cable. The black wire on the FTDI cable is GND, green is CTS. Use these BLK and GRN pins to align the FTDI basic board with your Arduino target. This board has TX and RX LEDs that make it a bit better to use over the FTDI cable. You can see serial traffic on the LEDs to verify if the board is working. This board was designed to decrease the cost of Arduino development and increase ease of use (the auto-reset feature rocks!). Our Arduino Pro boards and LilyPads use this type of connector. One of the nice features of this board is a jumper on the back of the board that allows the board to be configured to either 3.3V or 5V (both power output and IO level). This board ship defaults to 5V, but you can cut the default trace and add a solder jumper if you need to switch to 3.3V. A USB to UART TTL adapter is a device that allows communication between a computer or other USB-enabled device and devices that use UART (Universal Asynchronous Receiver-Transmitter) serial communication. This type of adapter is commonly used for programming and debugging microcontrollers, such as Arduino boards, and for interfacing with various electronic devices that use UART communication. Here are some key points about USB to UART TTL adapters: Functionality: The adapter converts USB signals from a computer or USB-enabled device into UART TTL signals that can be used to communicate with devices like microcontrollers, sensors, and other electronic components. Connector Types: USB to UART TTL adapters typically feature a USB Type-A connector for connection to a computer or USB-enabled device, and various types of UART connectors such as 4-pin, 5-pin, or 6-pin headers for connecting to the target device. Voltage Levels: UART TTL signals typically operate at logic levels of 3.3V or 5V, depending on the specific adapter and the target device. Some adapters may have selectable voltage levels to accommodate different devices. Driver Installation: Most USB to UART TTL adapters require drivers to be installed on the computer before they can be used. These drivers allow the computer to recognize the adapter and communicate with it via USB. Supported Platforms: USB to UART TTL adapters are often compatible with various operating systems including Windows, macOS, and Linux, making them versatile tools for embedded systems development. Applications: These adapters are commonly used by electronics hobbyists, students, and professionals for tasks such as programming microcontrollers, debugging serial communication protocols, and interfacing with sensors and other electronic devices. When selecting a USB to UART TTL adapter, it’s essential to consider factors such as voltage compatibility, connector types, driver support, and compatibility with your target device and operating system. Additionally, it’s advisable to choose a reputable brand or supplier to ensure reliability and compatibility with your specific application.
